Clinical Vignette Assessment

Question 1 of 10 Case 1
Clinical Case Case 1

A 10-year-old previously healthy boy is brought to his pediatrician by his parents due to a 2-month history of progressive symptoms. He has been complaining of a headache that is worst in the morning and often improves after vomiting. Over the past three weeks, his teacher has noted a decline in his academic performance and occasional "clumsiness," particularly with his left hand. On examination, he is afebrile with normal vital signs. Neurologic exam reveals mild left-sided hemiparesis (4+/5 strength) and a left-sided pronator drift. Funduscopic exam shows blurring of the bilateral optic disc margins.

Q1: What is the most likely underlying mechanism for this patient's morning headaches and vomiting?
