Abnormalities of the Urethra, Penis, and Scrotum
Clinical Vignette Assessment
A 9-month-old full-term male infant is brought to the pediatric surgery clinic for a routine check. His mother reports no issues with urination; he has a strong, continuous stream but she notes it "sprays downwards." He has had no fevers, dysuria, or hematuria. His birth weight was 2200 grams. On physical exam, the penis appears slightly curved downward when gently stretched. The urethral meatus is located on the underside of the penile shaft, just behind the glans (coronal). The foreskin is incomplete ventrally, giving a "dorsal hood" appearance. Both testes are palpable in the scrotum.
